14-member Bar team was at SC to argue its application.

A 14-member group of lawyers from the Kashmir High Court Bar Association was present at the Supreme Court on Monday to argue its application for intervention in a petition challenging Article 35A.

Besides the intervention application moved by the Kashmir Bar Association, 12 other applications seeking intervention or impleadment were listed before the bench today.

The bench, however, listed case along with applications in the week commencing August 27. In the intervention application, the Bar has taken the stand that in keeping with the constitutional position and historical background, the provisions granting special status to J&K state cannot be abrogated.  The group of lawyers presented before the bench included senior advocate Zaffar A Shah, MA Qayoom (president Bar Association), RA Jan, AltafHaqqani, Manzoor A Dar, NA Ronga, Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, GN Shaheen, Muhammad ShafiReshi, Muhammad Ashraf Bhat, Bashir Sidiq, AdilAsimi, Muhammad Yusuf and MianMuzaffar.  The State of J&K was represented by additional solicitor general Tushar Mehta who sought an adjournment.
