60 applicants in race for KU vice-chancellor..

At least 60 people have applied for the post of Kashmir University vice-chancellor, nine of them from the varsity itself.
The last date for filing of applications for the coveted position was 27 March 2018.Only 17 of the applicants are Kashmiris. A search committee formed by chancellor and Governor NN Vohra last year has been tasked with selection of the eligible candidate.
The committee headed by Prof DP Agarwal, former chairman of the Union Public Service Commission, has Prof Ehtisham Hasnain, vice-chancellor of Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi and Prof Vijay Gupta, former vice-chancellor of Sharda University as members.
The committee is scheduled to interact with the faculty and research scholars of the varsity on Friday. On Saturday, the committee will be interacting with office bearers of Kashmir University Teachers Association, Kashmir University Officers Association and Kashmir University Ministerial Staff Association.
Candidates would be shortlisted after these interactions and shortlisted candidates would then be interviewed. A panel of three prospective persons would be forwarded to the chancellor for final selection in consultation with the pro-chancellor.
