Eight policemen were injured in a grenade blast at Pulwama area of south Kashmir on Friday.
Reports said that suspected militants lobbed a grenade towards police station Pulwama resulting in injuries to eight policemen.
“Following the attack, cops also fire some shots,” reports said.
SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam Choudary confirmed the attack and injuries and said that militants attacked a police party outside the police station.
He said that searches have been launched to nab the attackers.
All the injured policemen have been hospitalized. They were identified as Mohammad Ishaq Shah of Hari Parigam, Jagdish Raj of Kathua, Mushtaq Ahmad Mir of Tral, Mohammad Shafi Mir of Rajouri, Ghulam Nabi of Khaigam Pakherpora, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat of Ganderbal, Bilal Ahmad Lone of Khansahab Budgam and Farooq Ahmad Lone of Tral.
Two of them Mohammad Shafi Mir and Ghulam Nabi were referred to Army’s 92 Base Hospital in serious condition.
