Advisory issued to overcome traffic violations in Budgam

In view of growing traffic rule violations, authorities in Budgam district on Tuesday issued advisory to over the menace of  menace of overloading.

The traffic advisory was issued by ARTO Budgam after a meeting with deputy commissioner Budgam.  Several directions by ARTO Budgam were issued to the transporters for compliance which includes action against overloading especially roof topping. “If and whenever such act is detected, the route permit of the vehicle and the driving license of the erring driver will be suspended,” the advisory reads.

No public service vehicle shall be used as private service vehicle (school bus) which is a gross violation of the MV Act 1988 and the Supreme Court directions in this behalf. Every transporter shall provide smooth, safe and reliable transport services to the public at prescribed rates. The Driver of the vehicle shall carry all the valid documents while ferrying the passengers,” it further states.

“The Contact Carriage service operators like Tata Sumos, Taveraetc are directed not to board 4th passenger in the middle seat or in drivers cabin. If any driver was found violating the direction, his Route Permit and Driving License will be suspended. All company holders are directed to nominate one representative for day to day work,” it said.  The drivers and conductors shall be directed to behave with the passengers in a proper manner and drivers shall be strictly advised not to smoke or use any other banned substance while driving, it added.

“All vehicles shall carry the government notified fare rate list and display the same in the vehicles. All drivers shall follow the all the road safety measures and precautions while driving to safeguard the precious lives of the people on road. Special care shall be taken to provide reliable transport services during peak hours.”
