Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani has strongly condemned the continuous ‘sexual assault’ of innocent girls by the government forces.
“Army officers like Major Gogoi are tearing to shreds all ethics. They are involved in devilish deeds of sexual exploitation of innocent girls,” Geelani said in a statement on Thursday.
“In a recent incident of sexual assault in one of the prominent hotels in Srinagar Major Gogoi was arrested red handed with a minor girl. Forces are using rape and sexual exploitation as a war weapon,” Geelani said.
He said, “Recent incident of rape and murder of a minor girl in Kathua has shaken the collective conscience of the Kashmiri people and this incident substantiates our claim that presence of armed forces in civilian localities is source of extreme nuisance .”
“These shameful incidents should probed by some impartial international agencies and people like Major Gogoi should be awarded a stringent punishment. Besides, exemplary punishment should also be awarded to those involved in Kunan-Poshpora mass rape incident,” Geelani said, accusing the state administration of showing indifferent approach towards the Grand Mamta hotel incident.
Geelani asked people to boycott Iftaar parties, medical camps, Bharat darshan and sports activities organised by the government forces as , according to him, “These activities are a part of cultural aggression and authorities are hell bent to dilute our unique culture through these mischievous activities,” he added.
