BIOMETRIC ATTENDANCE SYSTEM: High Court issues notice to CS on contempt plea.

The high court on Friday issued contempt notice to Chief Secretary for violating its order that Biometric Attendence System can be installed in government offices but shall not be linked to Aadhar.

A division bench of acting Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sindhu Sharma issued the contempt notice to the CS after advocate Syed Musaib submitted that the government has issued an order making Aadhar mandatory for biometric attendance.

In his contempt petition, Advocate Musaib submitted that contempt proceedings be initiated against the CS as he has violated order of high court dated 11.09.2017 wherein the court said that the Biometric Attendence System can be installed in the government offices but the same shall not be linked to the Aadhar Cards.

“Despite the clear directions of this Hon’ble Court the respondent has again issued a order directing employees to link their Aadhar cards with Biometric Attendance,” he pleaded.
