BJP demands withdrawal of FIR against army

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday demanded the withdrawal of an FIR lodged against the army-men in the killing of two civilians in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

“The government should withdraw the FIR against the army personnel and lodge a fresh FIR without naming anybody,” BJP’s RS Pathania said while speaking in the Legislative Assembly.

He questioned the registration of murder case against the army. “Why were serious charges levelled against the army?” he asked.

The criminal justice system, he said, doesn’t work under pulls and pressures
