The body of a goldsmith from Kalaroose village of Kupwara district, who was murdered last month was recovered today from a river near bye-pass bridge in Sopore town, police said.
The fishermen first spotted the body floating over the water near the river bank. They informed the police which rushed to the spot and took over the body.
“The body was identified as that of the goldsmith Tariq Ahmad Malik (27), who was murdered last month. The relatives have been informed to collect the body,” a police official said.
Police had last month arrested four goldsmiths from Sopore town for allegedly murdering Tariq on December 26, with a motive to loot cash and jewellery from his shop.
