Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) chairman Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai on Wednesday expressed serious concern over the plight of political prisoners in jails, demanding their immediate release.
“We appeal to the international community and world human rights bodies to take cognisance of the plight of Kashmiri prisoners and play their role in ensuring their release by building pressure on the Government of Indian and also help stop the ill-treatment to these prisoners,” Sehrai said in a statement.
All the political detainees lodged in different jails in and outside Valley should be released as continued illegal Incarceration and their shifting to outside the valley and state is inhuman and outrageous act of repression which needs to be condemned in the strongest words by all,” Sehrai said.
Sehrai lashed out at the authorities for shifting Kashmiri political prisoners from Kathua to Haryana Karnal Jail.He strongly condemned the continuous detention of Asiya Andrabi and her aides. “Aasiya is suffering from multiple ailments. Confining women folk is biggest blot on New Delhi,” Sehrai said.
