Bukhari’s killing irreparable loss to Kashmir: Separatists

Separatists have condemned the killing of chief editor of Rising Kashmir Syed Shujaat Bukhari, who was shot dead by the unknown gunmen at Press Enclave here on Thursday.


Expressing deep shock over the murder of Bukhari, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) secretary general Moulana Muhammad Abdullah Tari said, “The brutal killing of Shujaat Bukhari is an irreparable loss to Kashmir.”

Paying tributes to the slain noted journalist, Tari , in a statement said, “His role as a professional will always be remembered.”


Jammu and Kashmir National Front termed the killing of Shujaat Bukhari as a brutal murder, the NF general secretary Hilal Ahmad Wani said that this appalling brutality has shaken the entire Kashmiri nation.

“Shujaat Bukhari was a fearless and journalist always spoke in favour of the weak. His killing is a great loss to the journalism and Kashmiri society,” he added.


JKLF (H) Chairman Javaid Ahmad Mir in a statement termed the assassination of Bukhari as inhuman.

He termed deceased as voice of voiceless who has been silenced forever. He was a sane voice who also stood to maintain peace. Killing an unarmed person was against the teachings of Islam and human ethics.


Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) chairman Zaffar Akbar Bhat has expressed deep shock and outrage at Bukhari’s murder terming it a cowardly act.

“The dastardly forces responsible for his killing should be brought to book by the authorities at the earliest,” Zaffar said, describing him a true son of soil.


Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir has strongly condemned the gruesome and brutal murder of Shujaat Bukhari.

“ This is a brutal attempt to scuttle the voice of the people and as such a gross violation of the fundamental right of the freedom of speech. The media represents the voice of the common masses, mostly those who suffer at the hands of the tyrant and autocratic rulers and to kill a media person, in whatever capacity, tantamount to choking the genuine cause of the masses,” a Jamaat spokesman said in a statement.


Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (R) leaders Barrister Abdul Majid Trambu, advocate Ayoub Rathor and Wajahat Bashir Qureshi today expressed  deep sorrow over Bukhari’s killing.

“It is grave crime against humanity and reflects insane mentality of killers,” the leaders said in a statement.
