Bunkers for Uri residents await home department approval..

The district authorities here have sent a proposal of construction of around 3618 safety bunkers for the twenty Uri villages affected by the recent cross-LoC firing.
The identified villages are Dardkote, Zamoor Pattan, Choolan Kalsa, Sahoora, Tillawari,Batgra, Churanda,Thajal, Kamalkote, Kundi Barjala, Shadra, Dulanja, Chapper, Bandi, Isham, Nawarunda, Chakra, Uroosa, Gawalta, Silkote, Hathlanga,Sultan Dhaki, Jabla, Gohalan, Baaden. The number of bunkers for the villages are 432, 244, 69, 25, 89, 118, 322, 294, 235, 110, 81, 32, 50, 127, 190, 270, 50, 57, 212, 44, 43, 133, 26, 363 and 2 respectively.
Uri witnessed intense shelling between India and Pakistan in February this year, forcing thousands of families to flee from their home. They were temporarily rehabilitated in make-shift camps at Uri town.
It was first time since the 2003 ceasefire agreement between the two countries that troops from both sides used artillery, creating panic in the area.
