Itehadul Muslimeen president Moulana Masroor Abbas Ansari said on Thursday that Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani was a martyr for every Kashmiri and those mourning the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) are an inseparable part of Kashmir struggle.
He said that a Kashmiri mother telling her militant son not to surrender during a raging gunfight was the “lesson taught to us by Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) who preferred martyrdom to surrender before the oppressor”.
Masroor, who led a massive Muharram procession, told a gathering of mourners at Alamgari Bazar: “Burhan Wani is our martyr. We raised his portrait in our processions. We want freedom and we are not going to bow before the oppressor. Our commitment towards our martyrs is evidence enough that we are an inseparable part of Kashmir movement.”
“If police want to register an FIR they should begin with me. I raised his (Burhan’s) portrait. If they want to hang me for this I am ready.”He said if the police book “a handful of people” carrying Burhan’s portrait, 50,000 people “will court arrest”.
Mourners have been seen chanting pro-Burhan slogans and displaying his pictures in Muharram processions during the past few days.“We will continue to display photographs of our leaders and all t
