Clashes erupted in Malik Mohalla area of Chandgam in Pulwama district Friday evening after government forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation in search of militants.
A witness said that youth took to streets and clashed with the forces as police, army and Central Reserve Police Force laid the cordon. The government forces fired teargas shells on the people.
An official said the search operation was launched after “specific inputs” about the presence of militants in the village.

On April 1st, four civilians were killed and around 60 injured in nearby Kulgam district when government forces fired bullets and shells on people coming to the rescue of three militants trapped in a siege.
