Three civilians were injured in clashes which broke out during a cordon and search operation in Redwani Bala village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday.Locals said the government forces vandalized the property in adjoining Ghat village after calling off the operation.
A source said that army and Special Operations Group (SOG) of the state police launched searches in Redwani Bala village of Qaimoh today afternoon following inputs about presence of militants.The forces, however, had to confront the villagers who came out and started protesting.
“The protesters pelted stones on forces that in turn resorted to heavy tear shelling,” the source said, adding three protesters sustained minor injuries.He said that the operation was later called off.
The locals in nearby Ghat village alleged that the forces vandalized their property.
“While leaving Redwani, they smashed window panes of houses and the vehicles parked outside,” said a local Muhammad Jehangir.
