Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee on Tuesday said that Peoples Democratic Party should come clean on the statement of deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta, and inclusion of Rajiv Jasrotia into the cabinet.
“Inclusion of people who supported pro-rapist rallies in Kathua into the cabinet is shocking,” state Congress vice president Ghulam Nabi Monga told.
Monga was referring to inclusion of Rajiv Jasrotia, Kathua MLA into the cabinet. Jasrotia has taken part in the rally organised by Hindu Ekta Manch (HEM) seeking a CBI probe into the rape and murder of eight-year-old girl. “This is shameful and tragic and it has again exposed the hypocrisy of PDP-BJP alliance,” Monga said.
The senior Congress leader asked the PDP to come clean on the statement of deputy chief minister, who has termed Kathua incident as a “small thing”. “The remarks of Gupta unacceptable and insensitive,” he said.
Naeem Akhtar had dismissed the statement of deputy chief minister as a “careless comment”, adding that the government has proved that “it won’t compromise on the quality of investigation and determination for justice to the Kathua victim.”
