In view of unabated civilian killings in Shopian and elsewhere in the Valley, the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) cancelled the secretariat gherao programme by it on the first day of its opening in Srinagar on Monday.
The party strongly condemned the continued civilian killings in Kashmir and demanded that such killings must stop in the larger interest of peace and stability.
Expressing profound grief and sorrow over the loss of lives, president JKPCC, G A Mir, in a statement here strongly condemned the civilian killings in Shopian and described it as highly unfortunate and painful.
He said the unabated civilian killings “will remain the cause behind deteriorating situation, besides vitiating atmosphere in the Valley.”
He described the current situation as a fallout of “wrong policies” adopted by both the state and the central governments.He said the central government “lacks any Kashmir policy” which is responsible for extremely volatile situation in the Valley.
