Councillors of Shopian, Kupwara MCs administered oath of office.

The newly elected councillors of Municipal Committee Shopian and Municipal Committee Kupwara were administered oath of office during separate swearing-in ceremonies at the respective districts on Tuesday.

 An official spokesperson said that assistant commissioner, revenue, Majid Jahangir administered the oath of office to 11 councillors who were elected unopposed to municipal committee Shopian.He said that Subash Chandra Koul was nominated as chairman while Ahok Kumar Bali as vice-chairman of the municipal committee Shopian.For the 17-ward municipal committee, 11 candidates were elected unopposed while the rest of wards had not receive any nominations.

All the 11 members are affiliated with Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) and come from Jammu.

KUPWARA

The newly elected councillors of municipal committee Kupwara were administered oath at town hall Kupwara and the councillors of municipal committees Handwara and Langate at environment hall Handwara.

The oath was administered to them by district development commissioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir and additional deputy commissioner Handwara Gulzar Ahmad.Khalid Jahangir administered the oath to 13 members of municipal council Kupwara and 13 councillors of municipal council Handwara, and Gulzar Ahmad administered oath to the members of 11 wards of municipal council Langate.

In municipal committee Kupwara, Reyaz Ahmad Mir was nominated as president whereas the presidents of municipal committees Handwara and Kupwara were not nominated.Three candidates including a female belonging to Bahartiya Janta Party (BJP) took oath as councillors of municipal committee Langate.
