While patwaris (lower rung revenue officials) and government fail to reach any consensus the public continues to suffer in Kashmir as patwar strike enters day 26.
The patwaris began their strike last month on May 14 over demands which include grade pay for graduate patwaris, abolishing recruitment of direct naib tehsildar, placement of naib tehsildars under general quota, a and timely promotions of patwaris.
Due to the continuous strike of patwaris people are finding it difficult to process their documents.
“We will continue our strike till our demands are not met,” said Peerzada Fayaz Ahmad Baba, president of All J&K Patwar Association.
Minister for revenue Ghulam Nabi Lone could be reached for his comments despite repeated calls and text messages.
