Dignitaries, delegations call on Governor Malik.

Various dignitaries and delegations called on Governor Satya Pal Malik at Raj Bhavan here on Thursday, an official spokesman said.


Chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir State Water Resources Regulatory Authority Pramod  apprised Jain  Governor Malik about the steps taken by the Authority for the efficient management of the water resources of the state.

The Governor stressed the need for ensuring judicious, equitable and sustainable management, allocation and utilization of water resources and the need to generate public awareness in this regard.


Speaker Legislative Assembly Dr Nirmal Singh apprised the Governor Malik about the several important matters relating to public welfare and ensuring equitable development of all the three regions of the state.

Dr Singh congratulated Governor for conduct of incident free urban local bodies polls and ongoing elections to the Panchayats in the state.


MLC Zafar Iqbal Manhas apprised the Governor about various important issues relating to the overall development of the state and particularly highlighted the developmental issues of Shopian.

Manhas informed the Governor about the damages to  the horticultural crops of the farmers of the Kandi Belt of Shopian due to inclement weather and requested for providing them monetary relief measures including waiving off loans; expediting construction of Zarkan Bridge at Keller and other issues.


A group of 32 students (6th to 12th classes) from the Kupwara district, back from their visit to various places of historical and cultural importance in Punjab, met Governor Malik and shared with him their experience during this tour.

The students were accompanied by teachers Muhammad Maqsood and Javida Begum and Army officer Captain  ajesh Tiwari and his wife Mamta Tiwari who had been with them on the tour.

Interacting with the children, the Governor enquired from them about the places they visited and the experience gained during the tour.  The Governor urged the students to remain focused on their goals and work hard for achieving them.  The Governor Malik presented gifts to the students and wished them a bright future ahead.


A delegation of  Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan (DSS) led by its Founder President Choudhary Lal Singh, apprised Governor Malik about the organisation’s aims and objectives and presented its Vision document having 25 points formula for upholding Dogra identity and preservation of rich cultural and historical heritage of Dogras. The delegation demanded further investigation by the CBI into the Rassana Case; declaration of Maharaja Hari Singh’s Birthday as a State Holiday; provision of Chief Minister on rotational basis between Jammu and Kashmir province and raised many other issues also.

The Governor assured due examination of the demands and urged the DSS to work towards public welfare.
