Jammu and Kashmir National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah on Sunday urged the people across the state to forge unity for addressing common challenges that the state is facing.
Addressing a gathering at Batwara here Dr Farooq said that the whole cluster of human virtues like empathy, compassion, kindness, generosity, and forgiveness forms the core of Islam and that the need of hour is to imbue our lives with these intrinsic qualities of Islam. “We should repent and ask for forgiveness from Allah almighty. My father Sher-e-Kashmir drew his energy from the teachings of Holy Prophet (PBUH). He withstood political shenanigans, oppression and confinements for the protection of the state’s special character and integrity. Now it is for the youth to shoulder that legacy of his, however we cannot put up a strong front against those as are inimical to the special constitutional position of our state unless we forge unanimity and not let regionalism, communalism and other prejudices divide us.”
“Our state is facing a grim situation, the communal forces and their cronies in the state are contriving to destroy our special character, however it is up to us now to make clear to them how passionate we are about our integrity and special status,” he said adding, “The forthcoming elections provide us with a vital opportunity to clean the country and the state of communal filth. I am sure that people have made it a point to give a befitting reply to such forces as are hell bent to destroy the pluralistic visage of the country.”

National Conference general secretary Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar on Sunday asserted that the people of Kashmir need a louder, credible voice to represent them in Parliament.
Sagar while addressing party functionaries, workers at Koolipura locality of Khanyar constituency said that Dr Farooq Abdullah is not novice to the politics of Kashmir and that there is no one else who can reprent the aspirations of Jammu & Kashmir more effectively than him. “People of the state want a credible voice to represent their aspirations in the top most house of the country. Our party is the only credible voice of all the regions of J&K. It is the National Conference that is credited with establishing a welfare state in the state of Jammu and Kashmir,” adding, “The people of Kashmir remember PDP for unleashing countless miseries on the state. People still recount the numerous blunders PDP and its leadership committed from time to time.”
Addressing the workers, YNC provincial president Kashmir Salman Ali Sagar said, “The ensuing elections provide us with an opportunity to show our resolve for the protection of Art 35A and Art 370. This time elections are for protection of our identity, special status. We have to utilize this opportunity and give befitting reply to those forces as are contriving to destroy our identity.”

Political advisor to NC vice president Tanvir Sadiq on Sunday kicked off a door to door campaign from Umar colony, Bahar colony, Sheikh colony, Nowshehra, Lal bazaar areas of Zadibal constituency in Srinagar, a NC spokesman said.
While interacting with the people Tanvir said that the ensuing elections are the semi finals against the forces as are hell bent to destroy the Art 370, Art 35A, which are the articles of faith for us. “People in these elections have to come out in large numbers to ensure that Dr Sahib secures a victory with a huge margin. This time we are going to vote for the identity and integrity of our state.”
Among others Tanvir Sadiq was accompanied by block president Mushtaq Ahmad Beigh, secretary Ghulam Muhammad Dar, youth president Imran Dar, vice president Qayoom Anchari.Meanwhile party’s Central Secretary Irfan shah along with district President Peer Afaq addressed various public meets at Qamarwari and Mujgund areas of Srinagar.
Continuing its campaign in Budgam district, Party’s central zone president Ali Muhammad Dar and Abdul Ahad Dar also addressed various public gatherings in Chadoora. The party functionaries sought public support to strengthen the efforts of Dr Farooq Abdullah against the machinations of those forces as are contriving to destroy the special constitutional position of the state
