Ganderbal: BDOs briefed about key aspects of ensuing panchayat elections.

In the run up to the panchayat elections, deputy commissioner Ganderbal, Dr Piyush Singla, has directed the block development officers (BDOs) of the district to remain available at their respective stations till such elections are over in the district. The instructions have been issued in compliance of government directions in this regard.

An official said the deputy commissioner who is also the district election officer made these remarks during a meeting of the nodal officers of the district.

The meeting was convened to review the arrangements and discuss specific issues pertaining to ensuing panchayat elections 2018 here on Wednesday.“To ensure the smooth conduct of panchayat elections in the district, nodal officers for modal code of conduct, manpower management, transportation, communication and media management have been designated,” officials said.

During the meeting, the nodal officers were briefed about key aspects of the ensuing panchayat elections including transportation plan, provisioning of polling material, accommodation, medical action plan and availability of minimum basic facilities.

The officers were asked to stay prepared well before the polls have to begin. The DC asked the election officials to maintain utmost caution while performing their duties and emphasized the need for maintaining coordination for smooth conduct of panchayat polls.

He stressed upon the officers to acquaint themselves with the manuals and guidelines of the Election Commission of India.Besides the nodal officers, some district-level officers were also present in the meeting.
