Geelani chairs Hurriyat (G)’s executive council meeting.

Hurriyat Conference (G)  chairman Syed Ali Geelani today urged the people to stay away from the upcoming Panchyat and local bodies polls.“These (elections) have been used as a tool to continue forcible control of the state, plunder its precious assets,  change its demography and tinker with its state subject law,” Geelani said while addressing the Hurriyat executive council meeting at Hyderpora here.

Mainstream parties are responsible for the ongoing holocaust, vandalizing of property and widespread chaos and intimidation faced by the people of Kashmir,” Geelani said, “We hope that the people of Kashmir shall never permit such elements to deceive them anymore.”

“The Britishers’ role to facilitate the military control by resorting to delaying tactics in implementing the right to self-determination as the only democratic and peaceful formula for the permanent resolution of this issue is highly deplorable. Some political leaders of Kashmir played a dubious role to help New Delhi to take control of Kashmir,” he said.

“The meeting resolved that Kashmir dispute is inherited to the division of India in 1947 when except Jammu and Kashmir, rest of the states of united India decided their fate, by joining either to India or Pakistan,” a spokesman of the amalgam said .

He said, “The meeting termed Kashmir issue as a political and humanitarian issue to be settled by exercising free and fair plebiscite”.

Paying rich tributes to the youth who laid their precious lives during the ongoing movement, the Hurriyat leaders pledged to carry their mission to its logical end.

The Hurriyat leader also saluted the resolve and patience of all incarcerated leaders and activists languishing in jails in and outside the state.

The meeting was attended by Ghulam Nabi Sumji, Shahid Salim, Syed Muhammad Shafi, Muhammad Yasin Ataie, Bilal Ahmad Sidiqui, Molvi Bashir Ahmad, Gulzar Ahmad, Nisar Hussain Rather, Yasmeen Raja, Zamrooda Habib, Amir-e-Hamza Shah, Khawaja Firdous Wani, Imtiyaz Ahmad Shah and Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar.
