The veteran pro-freedom leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Thursday took offence at Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti’s visit to the family of Gowhar Ahmad Rather, who was shot by a policeman outside a mosque on last Monday in Kangan. He died a day later from the gunshot wound.
Addressing mourners, who had gathered at the residence of the Rathers ,on a cell phone Geelani, without taking her name, said mainstream politicians are responsible for this bloodshed. “Our youth are being murdered by the Indian forces for no fault of theirs. The mainstream politicians who despite knowing that they are responsible for this bloodshed are dearing to visit the residences of the martyred youth for condolence,” said Geelani.
Geelani paid homage to the slain , saying that “those who lay their lives for a sacred cause are alive with their Lord and receive sustenance from him.”
At the same time he urged the people to stop supporting pro-India politicians. “It is very painful to see that those carrying the coffins of our youngsters are extending favour and support to these pro-Indian politicians. They have no regard for their suffering community. These politicians don’t have any worth and hence don’t deserve our vote & support,” he said.
