The High Court on Monday ordered the government to inform it about notification of the Master Plan for Srinagar City within three weeks.
A division bench of chief justice Gita Mittal and Justice Alok Aradhe directed the government to finalize the Master Plan (2017-2035) for Srinagar with utmost ‘urgency’.
Pointing out that since 16 May, 2017 when Srinagar Master Plan was drafted, the court said till date the authorities concerned have failed to notify the Master Plan for Srinagar.
Observing that the Srinagar City has witnessed devastating floods in 2014, the bench said it is necessary that Master plan be notified and enforced so that the citizens’ life and property can be saved. The direction came after state’s additional advocate general; B A Dar informed the court that Master Plan for Srinagar was prepared but remains to be only notified now.
