With the Jammu colleges delaying the issuance of degrees to the college pass outs of 2017 batch, the local students studying in Punjab colleges and varsities have been facing tremendous hardships in completing their degrees on time.
A group of students who passed their graduation exams in the year 2017 from city’s Parade College told that they faced lot of difficulties in registration and enrollment process to appear in the semester examinations at Punjab University (PU), Chandigarh.
As per the students, their results of semester examinations have also been kept withheld by the PU authorities for not submitting their degrees on time.
A third semester student of MSc Chemistry at the PU said, “I was not issued the enrollment number to appear in the examination of third semester at the varsity, as the administration asks for submitting the graduation degree.
“I and other local students of 2017 batch, studying at PU, have approached the GCW Parade authorities over a dozen times asking them for our degrees, but they have one or the other reason to justify the delay in issuing the same.”
Students further said that they also contacted the controller of examination, university of Jammu, seeking direction to the GCW Parade authorities to ensure that the 2017 batch pass outs of the college are given their degrees at the earliest. But according to controller, JU, the college authorities have not submitted the result of the 2017 batch students, till date, thus the delay in issuing the degrees,” another student said.
He said, “If the GCW authorities will not submit the results to the Jammu University on time and the later delays issuing degrees to the students, we will not be allowed to sit in exams this semester.”The students appealed the Governor, who happens to be the Chancellor of the varsity, to intervene personally into the matter and direct the college authorities to prepare and submit the results of the 2017 batch pass outs immediately.
