JKLF, Hurriyat leaders, activists stage candlelight procession in Sgr against ‘killing spree’.

Leaders and activists of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front and Hurriyat Conference staged candle light procession in various parts of Srinagar against the “killing spree” in Kashmir.

The call for candle light protest after evening (Maghrib) prayers was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.

According to a statement issued by the JKLF here said that various leaders and activists of the front along with people staged two separate candle light protest rallies at Koker Bazar and Maisuma against “ongoing bloodbath in Kashmir.”

The statement said JKLF leaders that include Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi, Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Mushtaq Ajmal, Javed Zargar, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Ashraf Bin salam, professor Javed, Ghulam Muhammad Dar, Bashir Ahmad Rather (Boya), Gulzar Pahalwan , Muhammad Aslam, Muhammad Jamal along with social activists Deen Muhammad Matoo and Muhammad Amin Magloo and others along with people gathered at Koker-bazar Chowk and Maisuma chowk after Magrib prayers. JKLF (H) chairman Javid Ahmed Mir also participated in the protest march.

The statement said that raising slogans against “state terrorism and criminal silence of international community on the ongoing repression”, JKLF leaders and activists along with people paid homage to slain.

Addressing the protestors, JKLF leaders said that “fascist mindset has crossed every limit of tyranny and oppression in Kashmir and the way international community is sitting as a mute spectator on it is criminal and most disgusting.”

The statement said that the protesting JKLF leaders said that forces are enjoying a complete immunity and have been ordered to kill Kashmiris at will.

While paying rich tributes to martyrs who laid down their lives at Shopian, Bijbihara, Pampore during last three days, JKLF leaders said that “Kashmir has been turned into a slaughter house where forces are free to kill, maim, torture, vandalize, harass common people in order to put Kashmiris into submission and strengthen military occupation of India on Kashmir”.

In another protest held outside historic Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of Srinagar, scores of Hurriyat Conference (M) leaders and activists, holding candles and placards protested against the civilian killings in Kashmir. The protest was led by Mushtaq Sufi. The protestors were demanding immediate end to killing of civilians in south Kashmir. The placards displayed the slogan—“stop innocent killings in Kashmir.” The protestors later dispersed peacefully.

Another rally was held by Hurriyat Conference (G) activists at Soura where people holding banners demanded the intervention of international community in stopping the ongoing “bloodbath in Kashmir.”  The protestors were holding candles in their hands and were raising pro-Islam and pro-freedom slogans.

Meanwhile, activists of Tehreek- e- Mazahamat and Islamic Political Party JK on the direction of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani jointly organised candle light protest against the ongoing killing spree Jenab Sahab Soura, a TeM spokesman said in a statement.

He said that the protest was led by senior leaders Riyaz Ahmad of TeM and Showkat Ahmad of IPP.
