JRL asks Imams to read, pass its resolution after Friday prayers..

Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik Thursday urged people to stage peaceful protests across J&K on April 6 after Friday prayers against the recent killings in South Kashmir and Kangan area of Ganderbal district.

The JRL also said the peaceful protests will also be an “expression of solidarity with the people of Shopian, Tral and Anantnag and to again attract world attention towards the genocide of Kashmir’s youth by trigger-happy forces.”

In a joint statement, the leadership urged the Imams of mosques and shrines across Kashmir to raise their voice against the ongoing repression in Kashmir and to seek people’s unanimous support for the resolution framed by the JRL and to pass the same as well. “The resolution will be presented in all mosques for peoples support and approval,” the statement said.

“After the dance of death by the forces in Shopian in which 19 people lost their lives, resistance leadership was barred from visiting the district to express condolences with the bereaved families and share their grief. This punctured the tall claims of government that pro-freedom leadership was free to go anywhere,” the leadership said. “The intentions of the government are clear, it only believes in military might and use of force as a reaction to the popular sentiment.”

The leadership said that people of Kashmir are offering sacrifices  their life, honour and property. “The rulers have thrown all principles of democracy and humanity to the winds and are busy ruthlessly crushing the people’s movement for assertion of their fundamental right,” JRL statement said.

The leadership urged the international community to to play their part in stopping the ongoing bloodshed in Kashmir.

“We strongly condemn the use of force and excesses against the protesting students across the valley in which many students have been grievously injured and hospitalized,” the leadership said. “Every section of society including students is up in revolt to forcible control and repression of the state”.
