Expressing concern over the recent civilian killings in Kashmir, the National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday said the ongoing cycle of killings was the outcome of New Delhi’s refusal to accept political reality of Kashmir.
“I have been repeatedly urging that to end the bloodshed in Kashmir the need of the hour was to accept the Kashmir reality and find ways to resolve it,” said Abdullah in a statement issues today.
He said the loss of lives in Kashmir during the Sunday encounter has pained every human being. “These unfortunate killings will stop only when steps are taking for the resolution of Kashmir. The youth of Kashmir are disillusioned and feeling helpless. We should not only come together to help them come out of this desperate situation but work towards a workable solution to Kashmir,” said Abdullah.
He termed the recent civilian killings in Shopian as the “worst human rights violations” in Kashmir and demanded that the killings be probed.
“Our party expresses our solidarity with the bereaved families,” said Abdullah.
