Stating that the prevailing situation in Kashmir was the worst ever, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee has however decided to participate in the all-party meeting conveyed by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday.“We have received invitation for participation,” state Congress president Ghulam Ahmad Mir told the Greater Kashmir. “Leaders met in the evening and we’ve decided to participate.”
Mir said the prevailing situation in Kashmir was worst ever and their suggestion always fell on deaf ears. “Earlier we have participated in APMs and gave suggestions, those suggestions were never implemented.”
The JKPCC president said that besides the bloodshed, democracy has suffered under this government. “The situation had not been more worse in Kashmir post 1947,” he said.
Mir said that Congress always played a constructive role as an opposition party. “We have contributed towards peace.”
“By calling the APM, the government is trying to pass the buck on other parties. The present situation is the outcome of government’s inefficiency to deal with the situation,” he said, adding that the government has failed on all fronts.
“This is a futile exercise,” said state Congress vice-president G.N Monga while reacting to the APM. “There is urgent need to stop killings of innocent civilians.”
“Instead of calling APM, Mehooba Mufti, being the Home Minister of the state, should restrain the forces,” Monga said.
