Kashmir: Two militants killed, CRPF man injured in Khonmoh gunfight

Two militants of Ansar Ghazwat ul Hind militant outfit have been killed in an overnight gunfight with government forces in Khonmoh area on the outskirts of Srinagar, police said today.
“Two dead bodies of militants have been recovered so far,” said a spokesman, in a statement.
“Along {with} the dead bodies, incriminating materials which include weapon and ammunition have been recovered as well.”
The slain were identified as Owais Ahmad of Nowdal Tral and Shabir Ahmad of Aghanzipora Awantipora. The duo had joined militancy last year, he said.
The spokesman said that the gunfight began yesterday after militants attacked the policemen guarding a Bharatiya Janata Party leader Anwar Khan.
“Following leads, forces cordoned a cluster of houses at Balhama, wherein the hiding militants fired upon them. During the initial firing, a CRPF man sustained bullet injuries and was shifted to 92 Base Hospital for treatment. He is stated to be stable,” said the spokesman.
Two houses, according to witnesses, were damaged during the gunfight.
Meanwhile, protests have erupted in Tral and Awantipora area of Pulwama district against the killings.
