Kavinder’s statement shameless: MLA Rashid

Chairman AIP and MLA Langate Sheikh Rashid on Monday said that induction of Rajiv Jasrotia as minister “has exposed the coalition government’s claims of taking a moral ground over Kuthua rape and murder case.”

In a statement issued here, the MLA Langate asked Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to clear her stand as to how Rajiv Jasrotia was inducted in her cabinet,

Rashid said “If Lal Singh and Chandra Prakash were sacked from the cabinet for their participation in the rally of Hindu Ekta Manch in favour of the accused in Kathua girl’s rape and murder, the role of MLA Kuthua Rajiv Jasrotia was even worse.”

He said that Jasrotia and MLA Samba Kuldeep Raj “were instrumental in getting Lal Singh and Chandra Prakash to the Ekta Manch rally.”

He said that BJP general secretary Ram Madhav “seems rightly to have said that the cabinet reshuffle had nothing to do with Kuthua incident. It is evident that even sacking of two ministers had nothing to do with this case rather the BJP was in search of appropriate timing and excuse to sack them for the reason that the party had some internal organizational issues”.

Rashid said the PDP leaders including the Chief Minister who were taking credit for sacking the two ministers, “stand exposed and their helplessness is evident.”

Rashid asked the CM to clear her stand over the issue or “she must restrain from lying and misleading the people.”

Rashid added by inducting the “main supporter and organizer of Hindu Ekta Manch, into the cabinet, the BJP has not only encouraged those supporting killers of the minor girl, but has in a way reaffirmed their support to the communal and fringe elements, and Mehbooba Mufti seems to have made yet again a shameless surrender.”

Rashid termed as “shameless” the statement of Kavinder Gupta, deputy chief minister, calling Kathua rape and murder incident as a “small matter”.

He said: “Gupta’s claim that Kathua incident is a small incident deserves condemnation and proves that appeasing pro-Hindu Ekta Manch forces was the only purpose of today’s cabinet reshuffle.”
