Killings evoke widespread condemnation

Militant outfits Lashkar-e-Toiba, Harkat-ul-Mujahideen and other organizations have paid rich tributes to militants and civilians killed gunfights across southern districts and other parts of Kashmir on Sunday.

In a statement here chief commander of Lashkar-e-Toiba Mahmood Shah said, “New Delhi and its forces are committing severe atrocities. They are not even sparing even the elderly, men, women and children. New chapters of atrocities are being written while the human rights organisations are silent on the incident. The media takes every Kashmiri men, women, elderly and children as terrorists.”

Shah said, “New Delhi is pushing the oppressed to an extent that the waves of similar oppression that roam Kashmir reach out to Mumbai and Calcutta. The world will then term them as terrorism. But the forces are busy in committing severe atrocities, killing the children indiscriminately. The women are being molested and raped but no one dares to step up.”

Shah appealed Pakistan’s administration to take “proactive and responsible steps in putting an end to the repression being faced by Kashmiris.”
