Kupwara Op suspended, army claims 4 militants killed..

Four militants are believed to have been killed in an operation carried out jointly by army and police in forest of Halmatpora area of Kupwara district on Tuesday.
The deceased militants are believed to be part of a group of six militants against whom the operation was launched but suspended in the evening because of darkness and difficult terrain.
Kupwara senior superintendent of police Shamsher Hussain said the operation was suspended due to bad light and the militants hiding in the forest were responding cautiously to the forces’ firing in the day probably to prolong the operation.
However, a defense spokesman issued a press release in the evening claiming four militants were gunned down in the ongoing operation.
But Hussain said he cannot confirm killings because the police have not retrieved any body from the site so far.
He said the operation will resume tomorrow at the place, which is 12 km from Kupwara town.
“It may take time to eliminate the militants as they are firing from dense forests and can change locations,” he added.
