Major injured in LoC firing

An army major was injured in cross Line of Control (LoC) firing in Rajouri district on Friday, even as India and Pakistani armies traded fire in Tangdhar area of Kupwara district.

“The officer deployed at Nowhsera near LoC received splinter injury in his feet during cross border firing. He was removed to a hospital where he is under treatment,” a source said.

Meanwhile, India and Pakistan armies traded fire along LoC in Tangdhar area of Kupwara district on Friday evening.

A senior police officer told  that firing between the two armies started around 8:45 pm and continued till 9:30 pm. “So far there is no confirmation about any loss,” he said.

A senior army official of Srinagar based 15 corps said, “It was a minor incident and there is no loss. Fire was opened from across. We retaliated with small arms.”
