Make facts on J&K probes public: Mehbooba to NIA.

The National Investigation Agency should put all facts pertaining to its probes in Jammu and Kashmir in the public domain to avoid any “misgivings” about its functioning, the former chief minister and People’s Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti said on Wednesday.

“Doing this,” she said, “is necessary in view of the remarks made by a division bench of the Delhi high court in its 40-page judgement while disposing of a case related to such investigations, a week ago.”The PDP president, in a statement, said that during the recent past, she has come across many complaints in the state that those accused by the NIA including family members of some separatist leaders, businessmen and media-owners, have no remote connections with the accusations levelled against them. Many of them are also feeling harassed after the raids by the agency’s sleuths, she said. “It is therefore incumbent upon the organisation to come clean on its investigations in the state so that the misgivings which its conduct has given rise to, are cleared forthwith. This would go a long way in instilling public faith in the institutions of the country and the state,” she said.
