Senior Peoples Democratic Party leader and former Member Parliament Dr Mehboob Beg on Wednesday expressed dismay over the marginal presence of Kashmiris in top bureaucracy.
“Marginal presence of Kashmiris in the top bureaucracy is a grim reminder of what the post 1990 has done to Kashmir and its people. How can we achieve what we desire when educational institutions remain shut for months and months. A place where deferring examinations has become common, what else does one expect,” Dr Beg said in a statement.
“Let us not take refuge in making excuses and beating around the bush, we must indulge in some introspection and stop this vicious cycle of violence,” he said. “Kashmiris would love to see their children contribute to the betterment of the society. There is abundance of talent in the Valley.“Those leaders who are pushing our children into this darkness must be made accountable,” Dr Beg said.
Beg urged the people to put their heads together and find solutions to such impending issues. “We must look to shun violence and create a conducive environment for our future generations,” he added.
