Militants escape after shootout..

Militants escaped after exchanging gunfire with government forces during a cordon and search operation in Hajin town of Bandipora district early Friday.
A police official said that police, CRPF and army cordoned off KhosMohalla of Hajin after inputs about the presence of 2 to 3 Lashkar militants at around 3 a.m.
However, after a brief exchange of gunfire the militants managed to escape, the official said.
The government forces conducted house to house searches in the area till dawn. As the forces were withdrawing after lifting the cordon at around 7:30 a.m., youths took to streets and pelted stones on them, witnesses said.
