Mirwaiz Alama Rasool Shah’s anniversary observed..

Anjuman-e-Nusrat-ul-Islam today paid glowing tributes to its founder and prominent religious scholar Mirwaiz Alama Rasool Shah (RH) on his 109th death anniversary.
“In view of the 109th death anniversary of the founder of oldest education institution Anjuman-e-Nusrat-ul and Kashmir’s prominent scholar Mirwaiz Alama Rasool Shah, several programs were held across the Valley to pay tributes to him. The main function was held at Islamia Oriental College, Srinagar, where Majlis –e-Quran Khawani was organized for late Mirwaiz. Similar functions were also held in different educational institutions run by the ANI at Islamabad (Anantnag), Bijbehara, and Bota Kadal, Safa Kadal and Rajouri Kadal in Srinagar in which faculty and students participated,” a spokesman of the ANI said in a statement. “Late Mirwaiz laid the foundation of the Anjuman in 1899 at a time when Kashmiris were suffering under autocratic rule. By doing so, he late Mirwaiz helped the people come out of the spell of ignorance and poverty they were living in. He, later on, took the chain of educational institution to all nook and corners of Kashmir valley,” the spokesman, quoted the speakers including ANI secretary Muhammad Ibrahim Shah and principal Dr G M Khan as having said while addressing a function at Islamia Higher Secondary School, Rajouri Kadal, here.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq led a special prayer session at historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar in which a large number of devotees participated. On the occasion, he recalled the contribution of Mirwaiz Rasool Shah.
