A daylong convention of District Congress Committee Kathua was held at Bilawar on Thursday which was presided over by Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief GA Mir.
The convention, as per the release, was organised by former minister and DCC president, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma and addressed by senior party leaders, Raman Bhalla, Rajnish Sharma, Thakur Manmohan Singh, Subash Gupta and others.Addressing the convention, the PCC chief GA Mir said that the misrule of the erstwhile PDP-BJP government in the State has left the people in lurch.
He also blamed the PDP-BJP dispensation for the law and order problems and rise in militancy in Kashmir Valley.
Mir said, “The PDP and BJP entered into an opportunist alliance for the sake of power and compromised on their core issues. During their over 3 years rule, both the coalition partners, PDP and BJP remained engaged in a tug of power, which caused great harm to the secular and social fabric of the State and created disunity and disharmony in the society.”
Speaking on development front, the PCC chief said that BJP showed people sky and failed to deliver even peanuts.
Mir asserted that Congress alone is the secular force that made efforts to unite people of the Country and State “and we will not let any communal force divide people on the basis of religion, caste or creed.”
In his address, the DCC Kathua president, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma launched a scathing attack at the BJP for misleading people on development front.He said that all the political slogans of the BJP have fallen flat in Jammu “as no major project has been taken up in PDP-BJP rule in Jammu region.”
Sharma cautioned people against the divisive agenda of BJP and asked them to vote Congress in the coming LS and LA elections.Raman Bhalla, Thakur Manmohan Singh, Rajnish Sharma, Subash Gupta and other Congress leaders also addressed the meeting.
