Municipal Polls Phase IV: 43 candidates in fray for 17 wards of Municipal committee Ganderbal.

At least 43 candidates comprising 33 male and 10 females are in fray for seventeen wards of Municipal committee here which are going to polls in the last phase of elections on Tuesday October 16.

According to the district election officer Ganderbal Dr Piyush Singla, 43 nominations have been found valid.

We appeal the people to participate in large numbers in upcoming elections and we expect high participation of people in upcoming elections in all wards” DEO said.

Singla said that all the necessary security arrangements have been put in place for the safety of people participating in elections. “With district police coordination we have identified few places for accommodation of candidates who are contesting the elections,” Singla said. DEO earlier reviewed the arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of elections.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, SSP, Assistant Commissioner Development, Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers, Zonal Magistrates, Sector Magistrates, Zonal Police Officers, Sector Police Officers, Election Expenditure Monitoring Teams and other concerned.

The DEO directed the concerned officers to remain vigilant and acquaint themselves with the knowledge, rules and regulations of election commission of India. He directed them to work as a team to bridge the communication gap and yield better results.

SSP Ganderbal Mohammed Khalil Poswal also directed the officers to discharge their duties and sought cooperation from the officers entrusted with poll duties for smooth conduct of polls.
