Chief conservator of forests Farooq Gillani took an extensive tour of forest divisions in north Kashmir and inspected plantation works under CAMPA. Gillani visited Langate, Kehmil and Kamraj forest divisions of north Kashmir and inspected plantation works at Shilthera Mawar and Vodhpora Kupwara, an official statement said.
He also inspected conifer nurseries at Sanzipora, Zachaldara and Zangli and gave instructions to field officers for proper maintenance and quality plant production. Later, he chaired a meeting of officers of all divisions of north Kashmir to review the progress on various administrative matters pertaining to field staff like conducting of DPC at circle level and submission of cases under SRO 520.
The divisional forest officers (DFO) were directed to take up proactive and coordinated steps jointly with forest protection force to ensure that no damage to the forests takes place and protection measures are taken at all levels.
During the meeting, the DFOs were asked to take on priority the eradication of alleged bung cultivation in some areas of Kupwara forests and eviction of already recorded encroachment on forestland and report progress within a week.
The conservator of forests, north Kashmir Irfan Rasool and all DFOs and deputy directors of FPF were present during the field visit.
