Chairman PDF and MLA Khansahib, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Wednesday said that non fulfilment of promises made to the people in the Agenda of Alliance (AOA) by the PDP-BJP coalition government has added to the alienation in the state. Speaking at the all parties meeting convened today to deliberate upon the prevailing chaotic situation in the state, Yaseen said the PDP-BJP coalition government has once again “betrayed the trust of people by not fulfilling promises made under AoA including revocation of AFSPA, unconditional release of political prisoners, return of power projects from NHPC and facilitating dialogue process between India-Pakistan to resolve Kashmir problem.”
He, according to a statement issued here, said the present dispensation did not make any serious effort to provide jobs to the unemployed youth of the state.
He said instead of trying to win the hearts and the minds of the Kashmiris, the central government “preferred military might and oppression over confidence building measures to quell public anger and dissent.”He said contrary to the expectations of the people, PM Narinder Modi, “though being the most power leader of the country” never made a serious effort to take onboard all the stakeholders to resolve Kashmir problem.
“Instead, he (the PM) too sold Kashmir bloodshed as a cash crop to win votes of a particular community,” Yaseen said. He said the situation in Kashmir was worse today than it was in 2002. He said present government was totally responsible for the “debacle of state’s economy by enacting GST law”, adding that ailing tourism sector in Kashmir was another “success story” of the present dispensation. It was suggested at the all party meeting that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti should lead an all party delegation to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to “devise ways and means for making a congenial ground for talks with all the stakeholders of Kashmir dispute including leaders of various separatist organisations and militant outfits,” the statement said.
