In an open rebellion against the former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, senior PDP leader and former minister for higher education and information technology Imran Raza Ansari on Monday said he was ready to join any other political party for the formation of the government provided it did not believe in promoting dynastic politics.
Ansari accused Mehbooba of letting her kin hijack the party. “It is because of the interference of her (Mehbooba) relatives that the BJP withdrew the support,” Ansari said while talking to reporters during his tour to flood affected parts of Pattan. “Peoples Democratic Party has been reduced to Family Democratic Party by Mehbooba Mufti and all the party affairs are being run by four members of his family”.
He said he was feeling suffocation in the party and had conveyed his concern to Mehbooba earlier also. “People have sacrificed a lot for Peoples Democratic Party with the hope that it will end the miseries of common people,” he said. “However Mehbooba inducted just her own relatives in the party.
He said contrary to patron PDP, Mufti Muhammad Syed, who never promoted his relatives, Mehbooba Mufti inducted her relatives in the party and gave them liberty to run the party affairs at the cost of party unity.
“We are ready for even elections. People are with us,” said Imran Raza Ansari. “We have not come through backdoor entry like others in the party. People’s mandate is with us.” Ansari’s remarks have come a day after his uncle and another PDP legislator Abid Ansari made similar observations about Mehbooba.
