Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Friday PDP appealed to the government to restore security of political leaders and workers, who were deprived of it recently.“If government wants maximum participation of people then security should be provided to these leaders and workers in view of prevailing situation in the Valley,” said PDP vice-president AR Veeri.
He said by withdrawing security of political leaders and workers, the government has made them vulnerable in the current atmosphere. Veeri accused Election Commission of India of deliberately jeopardizing participation of people in the upcoming polls by having decided to club booths together.
“As per our information, the ECI has clubbed 10-15 booths together and many villages will have their booths in a single village. This will make impossible for the voters to travel to cast their votes,” he said. Veeri said the party appeals to ECI to reallocate booths in every village so that people could easily participate in the election process.
Senior PDP leader Ghulam Nabi Lone (Hanjura) accused that the state administration was backing a certain political party for upcoming Lok Sabha elections. “The Centre and Election Commission of India’s claim that the elections will be fair and free is a hoax as several government employees were openly campaigning for a political party,” said Lone without naming the party, adding he has already written to the ECI about the matter.
According to Lone he has submitted video-graphic proof to the ECI to prove that several government employees were supporting a political party.
