Sachin kept his promise: School co-owner

“We had an interaction with Sachin Tendulkar in Mumbai four months ago and the batting legend had promised to help our school. We are thankful that he has kept his promise,” Ghulam Muhammad, co-owner of the Imperial Educational Institute, Drugmulla Kupwara, told Greater Kashmir Friday evening.
Tendulkar, also a Rajya Sabha member, has sanctioned Rs 40 lakhs from his Member Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) funds for the school.The school has been established in 2007.
Ghulam Muhammad said the school has 1000 students and 45 employees. “Presently the school is functioning in a rented accommodation,” he said, adding that land has been purchased for construction of the school building.
He informed that the grant of Rs 40 lakhs would be used to construct classrooms, laboratories, an administrative block, toilets and a multi-functional hall.
