Searches launched in Kupwara forests after standoff between army, militants.

Militants and the government forces exchanged fire in the forest area of Kachama in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district late last night.

Quoting official sources,a group of militants had a standoff with a search party of the army late last night in upper belt of Kachama forests known as Tunga Top.The exchange of fire continued intermittently till dawn today, they said.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kupwara Ambarkar Shriram Dinkar also confirmed the stand-off and said that the firing has stopped as of now.”A search operation has been launched in the area to find out anybody or to trace out the militant group,” he said.
