Seminar on intellectual property rights held at KU.

To create awareness about the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) among the masses, the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM), New Delhi organised a seminar at EMMRC, University of Kashmir, Hazratbal on Thursday.

The event organised through Regional Research Institute of Unani Medicine (RRIUM), Srinagar was funded by National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB), a statement here said.

Pramod Kumar Pathak, additional secretary, union ministry of AYUSH, inaugurated the event.

“The main motive behind this seminar is to create awareness on Intellectual Property Rights among people, particularly scientific community to get more and more patents in their names,” Pathak, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said in his address.Prof. Asim Ali Khan, director general, CCRUM, hosted the event on behalf of CCRUM and its Regional Institute, RRIUM, Srinagar.

“We are putting more efforts on research studies of Unani Medicines which are proving quite beneficial to the patients. Unani Medicine is an absolute cure to chronic diseases, but people mostly remain unaware of the facilities. We have smart infrastructure available at this centre for the purpose of research as well as treatment of patients,” he said.

Professor Talat Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, University of Kashmir was also present among the guests.
