Separatists ask UJC to probe Nadeem’s murder

While pointing fingers towards “Indian agencies” for the murder of Hurriyat (G) activist, Hurriyat activist Muhammad Yousuf Nadeem, the joint separatist leadership today asked United Jihad Council (UJC) to probe the issue.

In a statement issued here today, the leadership, comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik said that it has been an old ploy of agencies to terrorize freedom fighters by these kinds of gruesome killings done under the cover of ‘unknown’ persons.

However, that said, the leaders asked UJC to probe Nadeem’s killing at its level to stop such kind of acts in future.

It is for the second time in Kashmir’s history of militancy that separatists have asked UJC to probe a killing.

Earlier it was done when Jamait-e-Ahle-Hadis chief, Maulana Showkat was assassinated.

Meanwhile, the separatists today called for Valley-wide shutdown on Saturday (Feb 17) against the killing of Hurriyat activist Mohammad Yousuf Nadeem, shifting of Kashmiri prisoners from Srinagar Central jail to outside jails, and what it termed “bias of Indian judiciary against Kashmiris”.

“Shifting political prisoners from Srinagar central jail, cancellation of FIR against Shopian killers by Indian Supreme Court and brutal killing of Hurriyat leader Muhammad Yousuf Nadeem are all glaring example of tyranny unleashed against Kashmiris,” Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik said in a joint press release today.

While condemning the “oppression unleashed against Kashmiris by Indian forces”, the separatist trio also condemned the brutal killing of a Hurriyat activist and spokesperson of Tehreek-I-Wahdat Muhammad Yousuf Nadeem who fell to the bullets of some unknown assailants at Beerwah recently.
