Reacting to the Prime Minister Narrendra Modi’s recent statement on Kashmir’s development and transformation, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising, Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, on Wednesday said, “Kashmir is not an issue of development or administration nor can it be resolved through military might.”
“Jammu and Kashmir is a long-standing issue in international forums and world community has agreed to decide its political destiny through right to self-determination,” the leaders said in a joint statement.
The trio said, “New Delhi for the past seven decades is exploiting our resources. The authorities are deliberately ignoring the hard realities about Jammu and Kashmir.”
“Since 1947 more than six lakh people have been mercilessly killed, properties worth billions destroyed, women molested, hundreds and thousands youth detained and tortured and killed in torture centers. Instead of stating any logic, the rulers are issuing threats and adding fuel to fire,” the leaders said.
“Leaders sitting in New Delhi should learn lessons from the annals of history. Kashmir was much more progressive and on the forefront in economy and life standard of its people was far better than other people. However, rulers are responsible for turmoil, disturbances and other issues related economy and development. They pushed the state to stone age like situations,” they said, adding that “Jammu Kashmir has been blessed with rich resources, forests minerals, however, these have been looted and plundered by authorities and forces.”
