Demanding compensation to fruit growers, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee on Sunday questioned the failure of administration to tackle the crisis that erupted in Kashmir due to heavy snowfall and rains.“We are unable to understand the failure of administration in tackling the crisis,” Congress vice president G N Monga said here today. “They should explain.”
He said that people across Kashmir are facing severe problem over the last two days. “There is no electricity. Entire Valley has been plunged into darkness,” he said adding that the people are even facing potable water shortage. “Some roads in upper reaches are still closed.”
Monga said that it was a matter of grave concern that the administration was not ready for the crisis despite the fact that snow and rains are expected any day in this season. “Governor’s administration is on a path to failure.”Meanwhile, JKPCC president Ghulam Ahmad Mir expressed serious concern over the losses caused to orchards and demanded that the government must assess the damages for compensation to affected orchardists. He emphasized that effective measures be put in place to restore the traffic on National Highway.
